The Practice tab is for a player to keep an honest picture of what they have been doing between rehearsals — for themselves first, and, if they choose, for the MD.
The screen
Practice opens on your own week: a streak for how many days in a row you have logged, a weekly goal if you set one, and a bar chart of the last seven days.

Log practice at the top opens a small form: how long, on which instrument, what you worked on, and how confident you feel about it. Save. That is the whole transaction.
Weekly goal
Set it once and the streak knows what "a week" means. Common defaults are 60–300 minutes; adjust it to whatever feels honest rather than aspirational — a streak of five weeks at 60 minutes is worth more than a streak of one week at 400 minutes.
Targets set by the MD
The MD can set targets for the band or for a section — "learn Slaidburn to letter D by the 20th", "warm-up routine four times a week". When you log a session you can attach it to a target, and the target's progress bar fills across the band.
Targets are visible to whoever set them and to whoever they were set for. They are not a leaderboard: nobody sees another player's practice history unless the player has opted in.
Privacy
Two modes on your profile, and Signal only is the default:
- Signal only. The MD sees whether you practised and roughly how much, against your goal. They do not see what you worked on or how confident you felt.
- Detailed. The MD sees the notes on each session — piece, confidence, comments — so they can support you specifically.
Players under 18 are locked to Signal only. Even a guardian cannot switch it to Detailed. That is not a policy the MD can override.
What practice tracking is not
- Not verified. If you say you did 45 minutes, the app believes you. It is a self-log, not a metronome.
- Not competitive. There is no leaderboard, and there is no plan for one.
- Not shared beyond your band. Practice history exports with your data (export) but stays inside BandHQ otherwise.
